Omega Market Getting Started Guide
This is the first-visit path, in the order it should happen. It assumes you can already open the market through the access guide. Total time from registration to a funded account is usually under an hour, most of it waiting on Monero confirmations.
Register
You need a username, a password, a personal phrase, and a PIN. The password should be at least 12 characters and not reused anywhere else, because the market is not the place to find out what a reused password costs. The personal phrase is your private confirmation that you are on the real site, so write it down somewhere you will remember it but not somewhere obvious. The PIN is six digits and it guards withdrawals and key changes, and there is no reset for it, so store it properly.
Enable PGP two-factor the same day
Generate a PGP key pair, upload the public half to your account, and complete the challenge it produces. Once it is on, you can log in with the key alone, which is the recovery route if the password is ever lost. The private half belongs somewhere that is not the same machine you log in from, because a key stored next to the session it protects protects nothing.
Make a small first deposit
Generate a Monero address from the wallet panel, send a small amount to it, and wait for the confirmations. Deposits take up to 30 minutes and longer when the network is busy, and each address is single-use, so generate a fresh one for every deposit. Reusing one is the most common cause of a deposit that never lands.
Place a first order
Pick a vendor with a long feedback history, read the listing carefully, and check the store page before you commit. When you order, the amount moves into escrow immediately, so your money is protected from the moment of checkout. Digital goods land in your order notes after dispatch, physical goods follow the normal shipping flow, and the auto-completion timer starts running either way, so check the order page rather than assuming it will wait for you.
Withdraw what you are not spending
After the first order, move the rest of the balance out to a wallet you control. The storefront wallet is a checkout buffer, not a vault. One withdrawal per hour, between 0.05 and 100 XMR each, a flat 1 percent fee, and the PIN or the PGP token authorizes it.
What goes wrong most often
The three classic first-week mistakes are reusing a deposit address, skipping the PGP step because it feels like paperwork, and leaving a large balance on the market out of convenience. All three are fixable, and all three cost more than the ten minutes it takes to avoid them.
Getting started questions
- Is there a minimum deposit?
- No minimum. The practical floor is whatever you want to spend, and a small first deposit is the sensible way to learn the flow.
- How long does a deposit take to show?
- Up to 30 minutes, longer under network load. Monero needs confirmations before the balance is credited, and the wallet panel shows the status as it moves.
- I forgot my password. Is the account gone?
- Not if PGP two-factor is enabled, because the key is the recovery path. If it is not enabled, contact support with the username and the personal phrase, and the account can be recovered, but the PGP route is the one that does not depend on anyone answering.
- Can I buy without registering?
- No. Browsing is open, but ordering requires an account, and the account is where the escrow, the wallet, and the dispute system all live.
